Lady Gaga and Abigail Breslin Offer Their Talents

Dexter and Abigail About Town
Two stars recently made their acting fantasies known on national TV.  Abigail Breslin, starring in New Year's Eve, appeared on Live with Kelly and announced that she is in awe of the entire cast of Glee and would love to have a role on the hit show.  Glee could certainly use her acting talents.  The finalists from The Glee Project have not made much of
an impression in their supporting roles so far, which really does point out that it's tougher to be a triple threat performer on TV than it looks.  Even after the finalists auditioned for about ten weeks this past summer.

Lady Gaga in a Hello Kitty Gown

Later, Lady Gaga made her idea public when Ellen asked her about a future acting career.  Although she finds it weird that she hasn't had to audition for roles offered to her, her dream would be to work with Woody Allen.   He usually seems to be interested in younger female performers just as they're becoming hot (Juliette Lewis, Mira Sorvino, Charlize Theron, Scarlett Johansson—every middle-aged+ male director is overly interested in her, though the younger female director Sofia Coppola elicited the best performance from her so far), rather than when they're really big.  Besides Beyoncé (and Allen has a fundamentally prejudiced track record with black perfumers; it's like the Hollywood studios of the '40s or '50s, resulting in their only being cast as maids or hookers, which is peculiar since he's fetishistic about jazz from that period.  Oh yeah, he did throw a bone by casting Bobby Short as himself for about 90 seconds in a great movie twenty-five years ago), is there a bigger star right now than Gaga?  She's not conventionally attractive, so would Woody use her in a supporting or comic role the way he did brilliantly with Dianne Wiest or Judy Davis.  However, they're both great actresses that were more mature and we don't know if the Lady can actually act.  Unlike Glee, Allen doesn't stunt cast.  And, by the way, Rebecca Hall and Emily Mortimer were both extraordinary for him in the past so when will he work with them again?  Or are they just not quite glamorous or sexy enough for him?

It sounds as though one of these holiday wishes could more than likely come true.  Lady Gaga should aim for Sofia Coppola or Kristen Wiig, both of whom work really well with a variety of female performers.  What d'ya say Mr. Producer?  Dexter's also hoping for a walk on role!
