PNC Summer Music Series on Fountain Square

A party almost every night now through August 30th

Dexter Danced to the Beat of Mutrix
We happily found some live music last week when Martha, Dale, and Stan were visiting from Columbus.  Stan's only request was that we find a live performance and after criss-crossing what seemed like the entire east side stopping by some stalwart places for entertainment, we came up with nothing.  We headed downtown and passed by the Horseshoe Casino where Bare Naked Ladies were
performing in the outside venue.  We heard one of their new songs while sitting through a couple of traffic lights. (BTW…several people were enjoying the concert from the streets.  You can't see in, but the sound was fine.)  We then headed over to Fountain Square and saw the party atmosphere while passing by.  At last, we had found some entertainment for our guests!  Actually, Eric had wanted to go there originally, but I thought that Martha wouldn't want to stand.  What was I thinking? Of course there were plenty of tables and chairs on the square, although we indeed did stand for our visit that night.

Street Entertainment
A wide range of genres are being performed each week.  Tuesdays start with American Roots, which can be anything from country to rock.  It's Reggae Wednesdays and Salsa on Thursdays.  Friday has a happy hour(s) before MidPoint's Indie Series that serves as a showcase and preview to the MidPoint Music Festival in September.  Saturdays are titled "Beats by Diploma" highlighting local, regional, and national artists performing poetry, song, rap, and readings.  Sundays wind up the week with tastings of wine and craft beers, leaving only Mondays as a day off.

A Portrait Artist at Work
It's all free with parking under the square at a modest $5.  There's something for everyone's taste, and you can't underestimate the fact that beyond all the entertainment there's also the people watching.  Priceless!
