Star Power: Edward Steichen's Glamour Photography

For a lesson in fashion photography, head to the Taft Museum

Lee Miller for Vogue, 1928
Edward Steichen was offered the chance of a lifetime back in 1923.  He became the Chief Photographer for Voque and Vanity Fair magazines.  Along with the title came fame and
fortune from being the highest paid photographer in the world at the time.  There was a reason for that because, during the
Greta Garbo
following fifteen years, he would leave for all time some of the most iconic portraits.  You'll recognize a lot of them and the others will be familiar names for the over forty crowd and a history lesson for those younger.  It's a different vibe than the recent Herb Ritts exhibit at the Cincinnati Art Museum, but still worth a glimpse into the glamorous world of celebrity and fashion during the 1920s and 30s at its utmost level.

The exhibit continues through January 27, 2013.
