Incline Public House

In or out, it's all a hit on the hill

Dexter Walks the Rails at the Incline Public House
We had experienced the view before.  If you haven't yet—you should.  It's one of the best vantage points in the city, laying out all of its geographic highlights.  The neighborhood runs the gamut of turn-of-the-last century homes to high-rise condos, with a new unassuming building atop the site of the
original Price Hill incline Pavilion from the late 1800s.  It's the perfect spot to showcase the city view and house made pub fare.

The Well Attended Bar
White Wine Sangria
and the Lavender

We met Louis on a hot summer night, settling on the indoor dining hall laid out with hightop communal tables.  It was bustling for a Tuesday evening as we were offered one of the few remaining spaces.  The group seated next to us was leaving, which allowed us to concentrate on our knowledgeable, vivacious server's explanation of the menu.  There were several innovative libations like the White Wine Sangria I enjoyed (definitely foofy and on the sweet side), and Eric's "Lavender" made with blueberries and vodka.  The list goes on…

Spicy Fried Pickles and Fried Stuffed Olives
We asked for suggestions and promptly ordered the Fried Stuffed Olives with goat cheese and the Spicy Pickle Fries made in-house, both with a remoulade sauce.  The olives were the hit with the pickles a close second.

Pastrami Sandwich
Braised Short Rib
Grilled Cheese
Louis and I were set on the recommended Pastrami Sandwich, while Eric chose the other favored offer of the Braised Short Rib Grilled Cheese.  The pastrami was a mouth full with generous tender layers of meat topped with slightly creamy slaw on a rye bun.  The tempting grilled swiss cheese laid among the short rib and caramelized onions between thick toasted white bread.  Both came with thin cut, light fries but Eric and I chose the upgrade to the IPH Salad.  It was basic, but
Cast Iron Chocolate Chip Cookie

still fresh and spruced up with nice accompaniments and a peppercorn ranch dressing. We were on a roll and ready for our server's choice of dessert for us to share.  It was, hands down, the Cast Iron Chocolate Chip Cookie with vanilla ice cream…a variation on the molten cake but with some firmness from the dough.  It's a winner, and so was the entire House!
